The Ghost is my long-standing, ever-changing project interrogating and celebrating the free jazz tradition from a queer perspective. Using the traditional trio format as a jumping off point for examinations into power, queer kinship, dynamic extreme, and the anxieties of sexuality; drawing inspiration from Jean Genet, Charles Gayle, Leo Bersani, Gayle Rubin, Giallo, leather culture, and more.
:::The Ghost::: Michael Foster: saxophones, electronics, samples John Moran: bass Joey Sullivan: drums The Ghost often performs with guests as a quartet, including Joe McPhee, Susan Alcorn (RIP), Jacob Wick, & Zach Rowden. (previously incarnations have included Brandon Lopez, Zach Rowden, Derek Baron, Henry Fraser, Connor Baker) I hope this page can serve as a little history of this very personal project of mine that's taken many forms over the years. |
